Surfactants

Surfactants, or surface-active agents, reduce surface tension between liquids, solids and gases. With both hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups they allow oil and water to mix, disperse, emulsify and stay stable in formulation. Anionic, cationic, nonionic and amphoteric types are used in detergents, cosmetics, personal care, industrial cleaners and agrochemicals.
