What people use it for

Kitchen and food preservation

Keeps cut fruit, juices and purées from browning; adds tartness to jams, candy and beverages; used in home canning and fruit drying.

Daily vitamin C

Measure a ¼ teaspoon into water or juice. One bucket is roughly ten years of daily 1 g servings for one person.

Brewing and winemaking

An antioxidant addition that protects beer, cider and wine from oxidation at bottling.

Water dechlorination

Neutralizes chlorine and chloramine in aquarium, pond, hot-tub and garden water. Roughly 1 g treats 100 gallons of municipal water.

Pool and spa stain treatment

Lifts iron and copper stains from pool surfaces in ascorbic-acid treatments; buy by the bucket instead of small pouches.

DIY skincare and bath

A common base for fresh vitamin C serums and bath soaks that remove chlorine from tap water.

Questions

Is this the same ascorbic acid you sell to manufacturers?

Yes. The buckets are filled from the same food-grade, USP/FCC-specification ascorbic acid that ships to our industrial customers in 25 kg cases. The only difference is the pack size and the retail label.

How much powder is 8 lb?

About 3,628 one-gram (¼ teaspoon) servings. At one serving a day that is roughly ten years of supply; for food preservation or water treatment it goes faster depending on volume.

How should I store it?

Keep the lid closed and store the bucket in a cool, dry place away from light. Ascorbic acid draws moisture from the air, so scoop with a dry spoon and reseal. Unopened shelf life is up to 36 months.

Does it contain allergens or additives?

The only ingredient is ascorbic acid. It is packaged in a facility that also packs eggs, fish, milk, sesame, soy, tree nuts and wheat, which is stated on the label.

Can I get a Certificate of Analysis?

Yes. Email sales@sdichemicals.com with your order number and we will send the COA for your lot, plus the SDS if you need it.

How fast does it ship and what does it cost?

Orders dispatch in 1–2 business days from our Illinois warehouse by UPS, FedEx or USPS. The checkout shows live carrier rates for your address; one bucket typically costs $14–22 to ship within the continental U.S., a 4-pack $27–40.

What if I need to return it?

Unopened buckets in original packaging can be returned within 30 days of delivery with a return authorization; see our refund policy. Damaged shipments are replaced if reported within 48 hours with photos.
